MATCH PREVIEW: Huddersfield Town v Exeter City

Excitement, it’s a feeling that I certainly have been missing recently when it comes to watching Town, but the anticipation of Simon Grayson’s new era has definitely raised a bit of hope amongst Town fans.

Whilst a new era begins, Dean Hoyle must again be praised for looking out for the fan. The announcement of frozen season ticket prices is a great gesture in a time when most clubs are increasing prices. Of course it’s not the days of the £100 season ticket but that was never going to be sustainable.

So to Exeter we host hoping to make up some ground on Sheffield United who will be involved in the steel city derby this weekend. Town need to take all three points to stand any chance of getting automatic promotion whilst we must support Sheffield Wednesday in hope United drop points and yes that is a very hard thing to do.

The injury news for Town is that Tommy Miller is expected to be out for around a month after being diagnosed with a hernia, our third player in a month to need a hernia operation! Skipper Peter Clarke is out after his double hernia operation bit Oscar Gobern is expected to be fit after coming off with a dead leg in last Tuesdays defeat to Sheffield United.

It will be interesting to see what side Grayson puts out but he is expected to retain Alex Smithies in net who came back after almost a year out against Sheffield United. Calum Woods is in contention for a starting place whilst the forgotten man Joey Gudjonsson could make an appearance after Grayson said that every player in the squad would be in contention if they impressed on the training field.

One bit of news for Exeter is that defender Steve Tulley is expected to return to their squad. Paul Tisdale who has done a marvellous job at Exeter will be looking to spoil Grayson’s party and drag themselves away from the drop zone. They currently lie two points above Scunthorpe in 19th.

Possible line-up: (4-4-2) Smithies; Hunt, McCombe, Morrison, Naysmith (c); Ward, Johnson, Gobern, Roberts; Rhodes, Novak.
